The first Economic Development Commission Meeting was held on Tuesday September 23^rd.   New Commissioners Karm Bains, David Burrow, Greg Heckman, and Paul Mendoza were in attendance.   Commissioner Scott Oakes was out of town, but joined the meeting by telephone.   Mayor Ramirez welcomed the Commissioners on behalf of the Council, thanked them for volunteering to serve, and administered the Oath of Office. 

Congratulations to David Burrow who was elected the Commission Chairman and Paul Mendoza who was elected Vice-chair. 

One of the first actions of the Economic Strategy/Workplan that was developed by the 24-person Economic Development Advisory Group and adopted by the City Council is the appointment of an Economic Development position.   At their meeting, Commissioners discussed the new position and provided Staff with direction on the desired qualities, experience, roles, and responsibilities.   The goal is to have the position filled in January 2009. 

The next meeting of the Commission will be scheduled for mid-October.
